easy wood projects
Problem; stuck for an idea or a starting point for your woodwork.
Solution; get crafting and make a wooden plane.
And it becomes even easier when a piece of beautiful, dense and hard wearing timber appears from across the workshop. Black Maire(Nestegis cunninghamii) is a native of New Zealand and grows most commonly in Central North Island and with a density(at 12%mc) of 995kg/m3 it is ideal for a wooden plane making.
Although hard on tools the reward for effort is obvious as the body of the plane comes together. Aswell as being very dense and hard wearing the Black Maire has wonderful colour and texture and a natural waxy surface which assists the plane to slide across the stock being planed.
So whether your stuck for an idea, or just need an excuse for a new tool, go make a plane!
